Scholarship Scope

CSU Scholarship provides both full and partial scholarships

Full Scholarship: Full tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, medical insurance for yourself, and also a monthly stipend for you; the amount of CNY 3,000 for the master’s program and CNY 3,500 for the PhD program.

Partial Scholarship: All tuition fees are paid and all the applicable fees and campus accommodation also including medical insurance.

Qualifying Requirements

For award purposes you have to know all of the following:

Language Proficiency:

ChineseTaught Courses: In science /engineering you require HSK4 with 220 while for arts /Social Sciences/Medical areas it requires a score of 260.

English-Taught Courses: at least an IELTS score of 6. For a TOEFL, at least a minimum of 85. Only the Native Chinese and the native English speakers or whose medium of instruction for studying were Chinese or English exempted from this requirement.

Countries: 

All applicants are from all countries. They have to be a non-Chinese citizen and also a no criminal record, but above all, they should have sound health.

Academic qualifications

Undergraduate

a) High school certificate/higher secondary certificate of any country or equivalent with at least 18-25 years of age

Postgraduates

a) Any bachelor’s degree  with at least 18-35 years old.

Doctoral

a) Master’s degree or postgraduation with at least 18-40 years

For the applicant with ages below 18; one needs to have a eligible guardian in China.

Master’s applicant: one need to have a sound academic background and research abilities as well

Application Process of Central South University Scholarship 2025

These are the steps to apply for the Central South University Scholarship.

Account Creation:

Apply and start the application form by registering on CSU’s website.

Submission of the Required Documents: 

Upload these documents correctly:

Passport Copy: More than one year valid.

Medical Examination Record: To be done according to the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner and must be dated after 1st December 2023.

Educational Qualification: Copy of the highest degree acquired and/or a notarized Chinese/English translation. Pre-graduation certificate, if currently studying.

Mark sheet: Duly stamped copies of the mark sheet containing the highest degree or in case of non-English medium, notarized Chinese/English translation thereof.

Non-Criminal Certificate: Officially stamped issued after December 1, 2023.

Language Ability Certificate: HSK, IELTS/TOEFL or equivalent is required.

Two Reference Letters from Professors or Associate Professors including Contact Information, dated after 1st December, 2023 for graduates;

Study Plan: an 800-word document including a research background, methods and goals. Only graduate applicant.

Published works or other supporting materials related to that acceptance letter. For the graduate applicant only

Payment of the application fee

After the initial screening, the applicant needs to pay a non-refundable application fee of RMB 500 through WeChat, Alipay, or UnionPay within two weeks.

Academic Review:

After receiving the application documents, the university will perform an academic review to take into account applicants’ qualifications, research abilities, and potential.

Admission Result:

Admission results are sent via email with additional information on financial support. Check the CSU application system and email for subsequent updates.

Annual Review:

All scholarship recipients are reviewed annually. Those who perform satisfactorily will have their scholarship continued; otherwise, the scholarship may be placed on hold.
